"As a sophomore on my school's tennis team, I started noticing just how many tennis balls were scattered across the courts, abandoned after just a little use. When I brought up the idea of reusing tennis balls with my coach, she introduced me to the oven sanitization method. Seeing waste build up firsthand pushed me to take action."

Each year, more than 330 million tennis balls end up in landfills, and less than 1% are recycled. Once discarded, a single ball can take over 400 years to fully decompose.
Bounce Back Recycle is a teen-led and sustainability-focused non-profit dedicated to reusing and repurposing used balls to decrease waste and create a greener environment. We strive to provide much-needed resources to our partner organizations, which include pet shelters, animal clinics, physical therapy offices, and recreational centers. Through our recycling initiatives, we hope to promote more eco-friendly practices!
Since being founded in 2024, Bounce Back Recycle has worked with youth volunteers all across North America! We have also since crowdfunded over $25,000 and partnered with animal welfare and recreational organizations in 24 states!

"I believe that sustainable consumption is crucial for creating a healthier future for our planet. It has been so inspiring to collaborate with so many organizations focused on providing care for animals and humans. Sustainability isn't just about protecting the environment, but supporting communities and ensuring that resources are used wisely."
- Lorenzo Beltran | Co-Founder of BBR
"Collaborating with individuals from the many shelters and organizations that are dedicated to making our environment a better place has been enlightening in many ways. With the minds of many environmental activists and their coalescent efforts, their contributions have spoken that individual efforts are required to make change in creating a healthier Earth."

Little things add up over time.
Climate change is no secret—the crisis is global, and environmental organizations everywhere are working to confront it. But repairing the damage we’ve done requires more than the efforts of a few agencies; it depends on collective action. Even something as small as a tennis ball can have an outsized impact. With long decomposition times and accumulation in landfills, tennis balls create a detrimental burden on the environment. So how do we address this? The answer is simple: individual contributions. Actions speak louder than words, and thanks to the creative efforts of shelters across the U.S., Bounce Back Recycle has mobilized communities to reduce tennis ball waste by collecting, distributing, and recycling them through our many partners.
